DOC Officers Honored by Delaware State Police
Officers Recognized for Bravery And Heroism

DOVER – The Delaware State Police recently honored two officers with the Delaware Department of Correction. At the State Police Annual Awards Ceremony, DOC Officers Lynne Brown and Patrick Cronin were recognized for their acts of bravery and courage. Governor Ruth Ann Minner recognized the recipients for their dedication to duty.

Corporal Lynne Brown received a Citizen's Award for thwarting the efforts of a would-be burglar on November 25, 2000. Corporal Brown was working as a clerk at a store on North DuPont Highway in Dover. A car pulled into the parking lot and the passenger entered the store. The driver entered the store a short time later, waved a jack handle and demanded money. Corporal Brown grabbed the weapon without hesitation and disarmed the man. The man and his accomplice drove off. Corporal Brown noticed the car's license plate number. Corporal Brown's actions led to the arrest of the suspects. Corporal Brown is a resident of Smyrna.

Senior Probation Officer Patrick Cronin received a Lifesaving Award for actions taken on January 6, 2000. Officer Cronin was on “Operation Safe Streets” patrol with Delaware State Police. Cronin and the other officers responded to a fully involved house fire near Hare's Corner in New Castle County. Officer Cronin and the State Troopers evacuated the residents. As a result, no one was injured. Senior PO Cronin is a resident of Wilmington.
