what do i need to get online with my ps3 wifi router?

i have a ps3. i want to go online. i havent got no router or anything. i have a internet connection by modem. i want to know what is the cheapest way to get online with my ps3.

You didn’t state which ps3 you had(80gb,60gb,40gb,20gb). But if you have an 80gb or a 60gb, then you already have a built-in wireless adapter inside your ps3. So if you’re in a good wi-fi hotspot, you may be able to get connected to the internet from your ps3. If not, then you will need to purchase a wireless router, that way you would have a much better signal.

The default settings on your ps3 are not set on the wireless connection, so you have to go into your network settings and simply change that and then scan into someone’s unsecured wireless internet. If they have a WEP(Wired Equivalent Privacy), then good luck trying to find out their password haha. But if you do decide to purchase a wireless router for your home, then make sure you put a WEP on it, that way it is secured. I have to do the same thing because i don’t have a good wi-fi connection here, and it does not let me finish downloading updates, play online, or browse the web.
