Vol. 1, No. 2 August 2007
From COAD President Stephen Martelli
The first thing I like to clarify is the rumor of 247- P&P
overtime, COAD is the blame. 247 Hazzard is misleading in-
formation. He was told by Commissioner Carl Danberg, two
months, it was going to stop, Commissioner Danberg deci-
sion read memo. Negotiations for August we are waiting for
a date because the Bill was just passed, August 2nd signed
by Governor Minner. Thomas Ridgley and I have met with
outside organizations to try to stop the attacks , favoritism
against COAD membership. In the coming months LT. Car-
ney, will be speaking at our union meeting, so if there’s
something on your mind come out & express it.

your actions.
Speaking of overtime, thanks
to Officer Kevin Collins and Janice Snead for the excellent job
they do calling the weekly overtime list on Sundays. Thanks as
well as Sgt Damon Ball and others in control for the daily calls.
Starting September 1, 2007,
the list will be rotated so that the
calls will begin where they left off
the previous week. This means
that you may be receiving calls at
a different time of the day than
you are accustomed to. This
gives everyone on the list an
equal chance of receiving overtime.
There are 6 COAD representatives available at SCI: Kevin
Collins and Janice Snead at GP7,
Damon Ball in Control,
As some of you may know, the
Commissioner has ordered that
starting September 1, 2007, only
COAD Officers will be allowed to
work COAD overtime. As far as I
know, there are NO exceptions.
This should open up a few
more overtime slots throughout
the week. But what is going to
happen if we do not fill all of the
overtime slots?
SCI continues to be short
staffed. Hopefully freezing will
not become an issue.
Remember, if you accept overtime and become unavailable,
please give as much notice as
possible to allow time to find a
replacement. Call-offs and unfilled overtime may lead to the
dreaded "freezing," so please be
